TUNA FISHERIES
Tuna fisheries are important because of their high catch volumes, high economic yields, and their role in international trade. Of the 90 million tons of seafood captured by wild fisheries each year the United Food and Agriculture Organization reports that global tuna fisheries land between 5 to 6 million tons of tuna. However it is important to note that tuna represent about 15% of the catch of small scale fishers. More coming here but for now here are some quick statistics!
